Liquid Herbal Extract (200ml) For use from 34-38 weeks

Why it's loved

The Labour Prep Herbal Extract is a Naturopath (and Doula) formulated blend that supports the body in late pregnancy, and as it prepares for labour.

It's a great alternative for those who aren't big tea drinkers or who can't face the weeks of endless cups of Raspberry Leaf tea as birth prep!

It's also takes birth preparation to the next level beyond just Raspberry leaf.

The Labour Prep formula is created by an experienced Naturopath and Doula who has worked with mamas over two decades.

These are wise mama's traditional birth herbs, but with a modern twist - in the form of a herbal extract.

What is it?

Labour Prep is a Naturopath formulated blend of 4 specific herbs, designed to be used from 34 to 38 weeks of pregnancy.

The 200ml blend will last the 4 weeks when taken as specifically instructed.

It's designed to be followed by Labour Ready from 38 weeks onwards. Purchase as a set - see the 'Options' under price.

What's in it & why?

Contains liquid herbal extracts of:

Rubus idaeus (Raspberry Leaf)
Urtica dioica (Nettle Leaf)
Withania somnifera (Ashwaghanda/Withania)
Viburnum opulus (Cramp Bark)

Why?

Raspberry Leaf: The classic uterine tonic helps tone the uterus and pelvic muscles in preparation for the work of labour and birth. The leaves have very high levels of manganese, moderate levels of iron, calcium, magnesium, selenium, plus the vitamins A, B, C and E.

Nettle Leaf: One of the best nourishing tonic herbs available. Rich in chlorophyll, iron, calcium, vitamins A, C, E and K all helping nourish the pregnancy. Also a gentle diuretic supporting any fluid retention.

Ashwaghanda/Withania: An Ayurvedic adaptogenic herb thats a rejuvenating pregnancy tonic. Great for relieving fatigue and supporting the adaptive changes of pregnancy.

Cramp Bark: This herb has anti-spasmodic and astringent properties. It help ease excessive tension within the uterine muscles combining well with Raspberry leaf.

Safety & considerations

As a Naturopath and Doula, I've used these formulas with pregnant and birthing women for over 20 years with no issues.

However, Labour Prep is not recommended for pregnant women with the following circumstances:

• History of pregnancy loss and/or preterm birth
• High blood pressure
• High risk pregnancy
• Ongoing and underlying medical issues

Contains alcohol: Herbal tinctures by definition contain alcohol due to the extraction method used in their manufacture. Given that with each dose only a very small/negligible amount of alcohol is consumed, they still remain a very safe and effective way of using herbs in late pregnancy, when taken as directed.

Completing and submitting this questionnaire will help determine the suitability of Labour Prep for you.

What is a herbal extract?

Also known as a herbal tincture, a herbal extract is an alcohol base extraction of the herb. This extraction method results in a high potency preparation, with high absorbency and fast-acting properties. This means you don't need to take much to get the medicinal effect.

When formulated correctly and taken as directed, herbal extracts are safe to use in late pregnancy.
