Liquid Herbal Extract (200ml & 500ml)

Why its loved?

Recommended by naturopaths and midwives, Raspberry Leaf is a classic uterine tonic that helps prepare the uterus for labour.

It's one of the most revered pregnancy herbs and is also considered one of the safest.

Raspberry Leaf liquid herbal extract is a great alternative to drinking Raspberry leaf herbal tea or taking tablets. It offers both convenience and potency in small (mls) daily doses.

It does not start labour or promote contractions. Instead, it strengthens the uterine muscles so that once labour does start, it's more efficient.

When taken throughout the third trimester it's also thought to help facilitate a safer third stage of labour, preventing haemorrhage.

What is it?

Raspberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus) liquid herbal extract as either:

1:1 liquid herbal tincture

1:2 liquid herbal glycetract (organic)

Available in 200ml or 500ml sizes.

They both offer the same medicinal benefits.

The tincture or the glycetract?

The Raspberry Leaf extract is available in 2 forms: the tincture and the glycetract.

This is an alcohol-based extraction of the herb (like most liquid herbs in a herbal dispensary). It gives a high potency preparation which means you don't need to take much to get the medicinal effect. It has high absorbency and fast-acting properties. Given that only a very small/negligible amount of alcohol is consumed, it remains a very safe and effective way of using herbs. The mixture does not contain more than 25% alcohol. Taken as directed, tinctures are considered safe for late pregnancy.

This is liquid preparation where the solvent is a combination of glycerol and water (instead of alcohol/ethanol and water). The vegetable glycerine used is sourced from non-GMO, sustainable and palm-free sources, including soybean, rapeseed and coconut. As a result of the glycetract manufacturing process, the percentage of alcohol is ≤ 2%. It is naturally sweet-tasting formula.

Glycetracts are suitable for people who prefer to, or are required to have avoid any alcohol. This may include occupations with Zero Alcohol Tolerance - emergency workers (e.g. police officers, ambulance officers, firefighters), mine workers, pilots, drivers of public or heavy vehicles, or Learner or Probationary drivers. Or those with alcohol and/or drug dependency, sensitivity/allergies to ethanol, or those with liver disease or damage. Or those with Zero Alcohol Preference - due to personal religious beliefs or those taking certain pharmaceutical medications.

How to use

This extract may be used from 34 weeks of pregnancy onwards.

It comes with a dosage schedule recommended by a Naturopath and Doula.

Available in 200ml and 500ml size.

How long do the bottles last?

One 200ml bottle will last from 34-38 weeks.

A second 200ml bottle will last from 38 weeks to approximately 39+5 days.

A third 200ml bottle will last from 39+5 until 41 weeks.

One 500ml bottle will last from 34 weeks to 40+3 days.

Towards the end of your pregnancy, you may begin to feel the ‘cumulative effects’ of the Raspberry Leaf. This may result in an increase in Braxton Hicks contractions/tightenings – a great sign!

How Raspberry Leaf works

It's seen as the great regulator. It helps to prepare the uterus for an effective labour by relaxing over-tense muscles and toning over-relaxed muscles.

This supports effective and progressive contractions during labour.

Studies show

Up to 58% of pregnant women use Raspberry Leaf.

This equates to up to 174,000 of the 300,000 births a year in Australia!
